TOPICS covered :
- How to prevent complications of diabetes.
- How to prevent/retard the progression of the severity of diabetes.
(progression of severity of diabetes condition as seen from needing one medication initially, then subsequently progressing to need more than one medication and even insulin injections to control blood sugar)
- Why just taking medications is not enough in combating diabetes, why lifestyle and dietary changes are critical in achieving good health outcomes for people living with diabetes.
- Why it is important for every diabetic to take control and be the driver of their own health journeys, that doctors can at most be only playing a supporting role.
- Understanding HbA1c, Glycemic Index, Glycemic Load and Post-Meal Blood Sugar.
- Understanding the pathophysiology of Type 2 diabetes.
- Beyond maintaining good blood sugar control, what are the other risk factors that need to be control and closely monitored so as to achieve good health outcomes for people living with diabetes.
- Mindsets, Knowledge and Skillsets necessary for combating diabetes.
What will not be covered :
- Specific foods to eat or avoid for diabetes.
- Recipes for cooking for people with diabetes.
- The essential foundational knowledge that everyone who is combating diabetes should arm themselves with.
- A 2.5 hour workshop,a 'Medical School'-like tutorial on diabetes for anyone who has the need or interest to be equipped with the essential knowledge that is required to combat diabetes and achieve the best possible health outcomes for people living with or at risks of diabetes.
- People with Type 2 diabetes / Pre-diabetes / History of Gestational Diabetes
- People caring for family members with Type 2 diabetes / Pre-diabetes / History of Gestational Diabetes
- People with family history of Type 2 diabetes
- People who are ready for 2.5 hrs of intensive learning, taking a deep dive into all the essential information about Type 2 diabetes that every diabetic must know so as to achieve a good life outcome in spite of living with diabetes.
Participants would leave the workshop
- with deeper understanding of and new perspectives of living with Type 2 diabetes
- awakened to the potential of still being able to have a good health/life outcome in spite of living with diabetes.
- equipped with the essential suite of knowledge to be able to be combat diabetes effectively and be the driver of their own health and be more effective in working with and communicating with their own doctors in the management of their diabetes.
- activated to begin their lifelong journeys in unlocking the power of their lifestyle/dietary habits in combating diabetes.

WHAT : All about Glycemic Index (GI )(升糖指数) and Glycemic Load (GL)(升糖负荷).
GI and GL are very helpful indicators of how different food impact a person's blood glucose after consumption. It is a very powerful knowledge / skill to acquire and relevant to not just people with diabetes, prediabetes and metabolic syndrome but also to everyone who has the interest and desire to make better food choices for a longer healthier life.
GI 即是Glycemic Index (GI) .
GI 是用来量度各类含碳水化合物的食物在进食后对血糖影响程度的数值,从而表示食物对血糖的影响.

WHAT : An informative & thought provoking workshop by Doc that will challenge your paradigm on the extent of how our daily food choices impacts our health, particularly lifestyle-related chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, overweight, coronary heart diseases, stroke and others. Doc would be sharing about how making good food choices for our health can be a fun and happy affair, that the right food for our health can be delicious too! As Doc always says, 'Eat Happy, Choose Healthy!'
